Deep clean vs standard clean: what is actually different

Marble shower after a deep clean

Every cleaning company offers both, and most explain the difference badly. It is not that a deep clean is a standard clean done more carefully. It is a different list.

A standard clean maintains

Kitchen counters and stovetop, the outside of appliances, bathrooms top to bottom, dusting, floors, beds, trash. It is designed to be done every one to four weeks and to keep a house at a steady level. See what is on the standard clean checklist.

A deep clean resets

It includes everything above, and then the things that build up over months rather than days:

  • Baseboards, door frames and switch plates
  • Inside the oven, fridge and microwave
  • Grout and tile scrubbing
  • Blinds, vents, ceiling fans and light fixtures
  • Behind and under movable furniture
  • Inside cabinets and closets on request

It takes two to three times as long, and it is priced accordingly. The full list is on the deep clean page.

Which one do you need?

  • Starting a recurring plan: deep clean first, then the plan.
  • Hosting, or someone moving in: deep clean.
  • Been cleaned in the last month and just needs upkeep: standard clean.
  • Not cleaned in six months or more: deep clean, no question.
  • Every six to twelve months on a plan: a deep clean for the things weekly visits do not reach.

If you are not sure, describe the house on the estimate form and we will tell you which one it needs rather than sell you the bigger one.
